Behind the Screen
I created this project at my first hackathon, which means it was designed, developed, and demoed in 72 hours.
The Vision
A common theme in the hackathon was to create something that would be beneficial to communities.
The Design
My main source of inspiration for designing the app was Waze. I wanted large, easy-to-view icons that allowed users to quickly report on supply availability, wherever they were.

Logo
I wanted the name of the app to encompass the essence of what we were trying to do: to join members of a community together in a time of distress. Hence, I used the word "unir" which means join in Spanish.

For the colors I used two shades of blue because it resembles, stability, trust, and wisdom. Therefore, I wanted users to feel like they can trust the app to facilitate their lives when they need it most as well as represent nature (water).
The Development

The Takeaway
This was my first hackathon and I definitely learned a lot. I was able to come up with an idea on a short timeframe, as well as organize (and design) that absolutely necessary features the app would need for it to be demoed in 72 hours. I learned to work with two developers and gave active and quick feedback to reduce their waiting time as much as possible.
